M3 CP CD DESIGN CONCEPTS

 For my collection of music, I found myself going back to the "good ole' days" for songs that were the most meaningful. There are several that did not make the list, but these are classics to me that sound just as good to me now as they did decades ago. there is a mixture of metal, rock, and hip hop.

2. Tom Petty - Even the Losers

3. L L Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out

4. Iron Maiden- Number of the Beast

5. Judas Priest - Living After Midnight

6. Sting - If You Love Somebody

7. Bruce Springsteen - Tunnel of Love

8. Beastie Boys - Rhymin & Stealin

My concepts for the design revolve around going back to the past, hence the title "Regression in Progression." Here are some of my experiments with the type. Potential images will be retro: toy robots and a Krazy Kar are a few of my memories when I was younger, obviously much younger, but those images fit the theme I believe.






Another thought is playing off the combination of different genres of music with the title. "Amalgam." Here images representing the various types of music, either directly or indirectly. Another thought was to depict music cassettes, the first method of portable music: walkman or boom boxes.

M2 CP HUDSON VALLEY INN LOGOS

For this project, The task was to design logos for a new and unique boutique hotel named the Hudson Valley Inn and its upscale restaurant and bar. The main attraction of the hotel is the scenic escape it provides city dwellers , especially during the fall foliage season. With this in mind, I wanted to give it a modern look mixed with nostalgia. The type chosen for all three logos is Mostra Nuova from Adobe Fonts. I imported the bold version for the hotel and the regular for the restaurant and bar. This gives an Art Deco impression. For the hotel logo I transformed the "S" in Hudson into a vector object, molding it into a symbol of the Hudson River winding down the Valley where it ends in the negative space of the "V" of valley. By creating a black background, Hudson could be white, further enhancing the flow from the S into the V. It also lends itself to an Art Deco look.
