M2 CP HUDSON VALLEY DESIGN CONCEPTS

Here are my concepts for the Boutique Hotel, The Hudson Valley Inn.

1.

This scenery concept is based on transforming the S into the Hudson River and indicating a sunset with half of the O. I am experimenting with the S as a vertical design rather than horizontal.

2.

This concept uses a single and simple transformation of the O into a maple leaf, symbolic of viewing the fall foliage the hotel is noted for.

3.

This concept uses the S as a symbol of the Hudson river again as a vertical design component, merging with the V which could symbolize the Hudson Valley. The vertical design also indicates a north/south direction. The Hudson Valley is located north of New York City.

4.

This concept uses the initials of the hotel, the H & V as bold type with an inverted maple leaf as negative space overlapping/between them. I was looking for a bold simple design without all the type. This one I feel has potential and worth further experimentation.

5.

For this concept, I used the theme of exploration, portraying a compass, using the N and E from North and East respectively to represent the N and E. Henry Hudson was the explorer who the valley and river are named for. The V is horizontal, representing the west direction, the way Hudson was heading, searching for a shortcut to the Far East. This concept does not represent the scenery theme that is suggested, but I liked the concept and wanted to work it out on paper to determine if it has merit. Maybe.

6.

This is a concept for the upscale restaurant logo. I chose the name "galley" using the theme of Henry Hudson again, a galley being the kitchen of a ship. The G represents the wheel of a sailing ship.

7.

This is another concept for the restaurant using the name Half Moon, which was the name of the ship that Henry Hudson sailed on during his expedition and discovery of the Hudson River.

8.
I chose the name 1609 as the name of the bar. this is the year that Henry Hudson discovered the Hudson River and Valley. I placed an olive in the 6, symbolic of what you might find in a martini.

Thanks for viewing my concepts. Any suggestions and critiques are welcome.

Chuck
